Jamaica is about to become the busiest corner of the Sandals map again. Between November and January, the brand is bringing its entire seven-resort Jamaica lineup back online — including one resort reopening after a top-to-bottom reimagining and another launching under a brand-new name. If a Caribbean honeymoon is on your radar for this winter or next spring, this is the moment the options got a lot better.
Here's exactly what's reopening, when, what it costs, and which resort fits which kind of honeymoon.
The reopening timeline
- November 18, 2026 — Sandals South Coast reopens. The comeback starts on Jamaica's quiet south coast in Whitehouse, after a major reimagining (more on this one below — it's the honeymoon standout).
- December 18, 2026 — Sandals Montego Bay returns, and Sandals Caribbean Cay debuts. Two on the same day: the flagship Montego Bay resort comes back, alongside Sandals Caribbean Cay, the new name and new incarnation of the former Sandals Royal Caribbean.
- By January 2027 — all 7 Jamaica resorts are operating, stretching from Negril in the west to Ocho Rios in the east.

Sandals is putting real money behind the return. The Great Jamaica Comeback promotion currently includes:
- Up to $1,500 in instant credit
- Up to $350 in air credit
- A complimentary Jamaica excursion on qualifying stays of 5 nights or longer
Promotional rates run from about $159 per person, per night at Sandals Ochi up to $417 per person, per night at Sandals Montego Bay, depending on your dates and room category. For a honeymoon, the 5-night threshold is the one to watch — it's where the free excursion kicks in, and most honeymoons run longer than that anyway.

The 7 resorts, through a honeymoon lens
Sandals South Coast (Whitehouse) — the honeymoon standout. This is the one to circle. Bordered by a 500-acre protected nature reserve, the reimagined South Coast is home to some of the most romantic rooms in the entire Sandals portfolio: Overwater Butler Villas, circular Rondoval villas with private pools, and swim-up suites with the pool running right past your terrace. The reopened resort will have 10 restaurants, 7 bars, 4 pools and 4 whirlpools, plus new additions like Butch's Island Chophouse and the BLUM Coffee Bar joining longtime favorites. Book 5 nights or more under the comeback offer and Sandals includes a catamaran trip to YS Falls. Promotional rates start around $272 per person, per night. If your idea of a honeymoon is seclusion, an overwater villa, and enough to do to fill a week, start here.
Sandals Montego Bay — the returning flagship. The original Sandals, back on December 18. It sits at the top of the current promotional range (around $417 pp/night), and it's the easiest arrival — minutes from Montego Bay's airport.
Sandals Caribbean Cay (formerly Sandals Royal Caribbean) — the rebrand to watch. Debuting December 18, this is the reimagined version of the resort long known for its private offshore island and overwater accommodations in the Montego Bay area. New name, new chapter — and worth knowing the history so you don't book it thinking it's a different property.
Sandals Negril — the beach. Home to a legendary stretch of Jamaica's famous Seven Mile Beach, and a long-time honeymoon favorite for sunsets.
Sandals Ochi (Ocho Rios) — the value pick. The lowest entry point in the comeback promotion (around $159 pp/night), set in the lush hills above Ocho Rios.
Sandals Royal Plantation (Ocho Rios) — the all-butler hideaway. Small, intimate, and all-butler — the quiet-luxury choice for couples who want to be looked after.
Sandals Dunn's River (Ocho Rios) — one of the newest. Near the famous Dunn's River Falls, this is one of Sandals' most recently built resorts. (We reviewed it in detail — see our Dunn's River guide.)
So which one should you book?
- Want overwater villas and seclusion? Sandals South Coast.
